How to stay Happy during pandemic ?

How to stay happy?” is one question that I keep getting on my mails nowadays.

For the longest time I thought I will not address it because I was not the right person to answer it. I am still not! But, lately I have realised that no one is the right person to answer it. Because, there is absolutely no one who is completely happy. We all have our bad times, heartbreaks, anxiety, health issues of our near ones and what not?

Taking all of this into consideration, I feel nowadays this question is of more importance to many people. I know covid19 pandemic has influence lives of majority of the population. Some of us have lost our close ones, some have lost jobs and sadly most of us have lost HOPE.

How to stay happy

Mental health during covid19 pandemic

As per the studies conducted, the isolation, grief and economic hardship are severely affecting the mental health. As a result there has been a sharp increase in the suicide rate all over the world including India. The mental health experts in this field are warning that a wave of anxiety, depression, substance abuse and other kinds of psychological trauma is speedily approaching. The covid19 pandemic has made a massive impact on the lifestyle on people because of the financial crisis and that is the reason that not just people like you and me are touched by the crisis, but also the celebrities are facing the economic crunch.

Rise in Domestic violence

Another area of serious concern is the rise in domestic violence during lockdown due to the pandemic. The victims of the domestic violence are facing terrifying new degree of domestic violence. The Nation Commission for Women (NCW) in India has raised an alarm about the increasing cases of domestic violence amid lockdown. As per their report, the pattern of the violence involves psychological, physical, sexual, financial and emotional abuse. Sadly, it just not end there, even the children have escalated vulnerability to domestic violence during these times. The young adults of the house are facing job insecurity, anxiety and financial twitchiness. Hence, the domestic violence is at large scale and involves mostly mental issues that fuel the fire.

While we all are going through different kinds of sufferings during these rough times, it is extremely important for all of us to be kind to ourselves and also to others. The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) and World Health Organization (WHO) are time and again releasing articles and advisory guidelines to keep our mental health at best.

How to stay happy

Before you think, you are at your worst, please stop!

Remember, we are in this together. No matter how cliché it may sound but trust me, we will overcome it with time. This too shall pass. Don’t rush. Take breaks when required and do everything that makes you happy.

Love and light
